Audrey
Audrey first heard about One On One when we hosted a computer literacy and resume writing workshop in her apartment building. She originally just wanted help making her resume as professional as possible. What she came away with was a whole support system. None of her questions were treated as silly, and her coach made her feel confident and important.
Audrey was already employed at an elementary school while finishing a degree program, but she was hoping for a job that would pay a living wage. With support from One On One, she applied and got a new job at a charter school.
This Spring, Audrey graduated from college with two different degrees. She first received an Associate of Arts with Honors in General Education Core Curriculum in May. Then, in June, she also graduated from National Louis University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Developmental Psychology. Her dream is to complete a Master’s in Institutional and Curriculum Development for Trauma & Resilience so that she can work on an administration team that helps make decisions about curriculum and how children are taught.
Audrey attributes One On One with encouraging her to make her dreams come true, that she was fully capable and that she could be successful in whatever she put her mind to. Having that support system in place allowed her to keep pushing to success. She says that One On One has the best program she has ever encountered and tells people about it everywhere she goes. We are so proud of Audrey and know she will continue to dream big and make a huge difference in the lives of the students she will impact.
