Lisa

After Lisa majored in Mathematics and Computer Science at Xavier University, she worked for PwC, Allstate, Chase, and USAA. Lisa’s most fulfilling role emerged when she stepped away from corporate roles and embraced the role of being a mother, a position she cherishes deeply. As her children began to mature, Lisa’s engagement with her community deepened, leading her to take on roles as Treasurer and board member for various organizations.

Motivated by her strong work ethic, Lisa felt the call to relaunch her career. While Lisa’s experience in corporate companies and her contributions to her community were commendable, entering the workforce was not the easiest of tasks. She consistently noticed that the first thing many recruiters would mention from her resume was the gap since her last fulltime position.

“Having someone in my corner was the most valuable thing for me in working with a coach.”

Following her pursuit of different avenues, her path eventually led her to One On One. Collaborating with her employment coaches, they crafted multiple versions of her resume, cover letters, and spent time reconnecting with her network. While this process was frustrating at times, it led her to find an entire community of parents who had stepped away from their career paths to focus on their families as well. Reading the stories of other parents who had rejoined the workforce, further energized her to keep searching.

Lisa was offered a position as an Internal Auditor at Governors State University. Returning to the workforce, Lisa was excited to leverage her diverse experiences and skills to contribute effectively to the university. Her journey as a mother, non-profit advocate, and corporate professional prepared her to use those skills in a higher education environment. One On One is grateful to be a part of that journey.
