Tobi
Tobi learned about One On One through Vineyard Church while he was in the middle of his search for a job in the healthcare field.
Tobi said that he found it helpful to have his One On One coach’s assistance while working on his goals of networking, building relationships, and navigating his career development.
Tobi is currently working at RUSH University Medical Center as a Patient Care Coordinator and recently reached his one-year anniversary in the role. In his role at RUSH, he assists with inpatient and outpatient scheduling, managing patients arriving and getting signed in, and helping them to prepare for their appointments. He applied for his current position online with the help of his coach and completed two interviews before receiving an offer, which he accepted.
Tobi says that his favorite part of his new job is the people that he gets to work with, and said that his team is interesting and fun.
“We all have a job to do, we all have things going on, but if we can work together, it makes the job much smoother.”
While working on his job search, his employment coach emphasized the importance of networking and developing a LinkedIn presence, as having a robust profile and lots of real, meaningful, and professional connections there makes it a lot easier to make good impressions and find new opportunities. Tobi had been avoiding the platform but realized how it could be a good tool.
Tobi said his coach helped him to learn to be more persistent and resilient in his pursuits of where he wanted to go, and that the most helpful part of working with One On One was the help he was able to receive with his resume and practice interviews.
In the future, Tobi is interested in going back to school to get his Master’s degree in either the fields of counseling or technology.
For those who are still looking for employment, Tobi said, “Have grace for yourself. You’re stronger than you think, you’re more powerful than you think, and you’re definitely more capable. Sometimes you have to be put in uncomfortable situations and push your limits so that you can see what you’re really made of. I think One On One is very helpful to stretch you so that you can see what you are really capable of achieving in life.”
